Chain link is a tension structure. It is installed by pulling fabric tight between fixed terminal posts, and almost every chain link problem traces back to that tension being wrong.
Terminal posts take the load and are set larger and deeper than line posts. Fabric is stretched with a come-along, tied at intervals, and held straight by either a top rail or top tension wire.

A top rail stiffens the run and is the residential norm. Tension wire is cheaper, flexes under impact rather than bending permanently, and is common on long agricultural runs.
Bottom tension wire, a buried bottom rail, or mesh turned outward and buried at the base. Which one depends on the dog and on how much digging is being done.
